frequently asked questions

Here are some of the most common questions from over the years.  If your question is not here, please contact us.

What do I need to bring with me?

All you need to bring are sheets, a pillowcase and a towel. The booking officer will advise what size beds are in your room when your booking is confirmed and you can read the detailed Guest Information. Other than that, please check our Amenities and Activities pages for ideas on other things you may wish to bring with you.

What facilities, equipment and supplies does the kitchen have?

The kitchen is very well stocked. Each room is allocated pantry and fridge space. There is a wide range of cooking pans, baking trays, glass dishes, utensils and appliances. Our resident manager also keeps the pantry stocked with a range of tea and coffee, spices and pantry essentials like flour, sugar, oil, salt, pepper and even those things that you only need a tablespoon of here and there, like cornflour or baking soda. With large benches, six ovens, four microwaves and four 6-burner cooktops, there is space for everyone, even on the busiest nights. And the industrial dishwasher only takes 3 minutes per cycle!

Is there mobile reception and WiFi?

Yes, most mobile networks have OK to excellent receiption. The lodge is unable to use the NBN, but has free WiFi that uses the Starlink satellite network. This is fine for general social media, web browsing and email useage, but we ask that you do not use any streaming video services, as concurrent use slows the network down for everyone. If you want to watch videos on your own devices, we ask that you pre-download these before arrival or use your own mobile data whilst at the lodge.

Can I bring my pet?

No pets are allowed at Thredbo Farm Ski Lodge.

How do I get to Thredbo Farm Ski Lodge?

Follow the Google Map directions to 1667 Alpine Way Crackenback, about 20kms from Jindabyne. Look for the gate on the left hand side just past the Lake Crackenback entrance.

What do I need to do when I arrive and depart?

Homestead Rooms have 2pm check in, Snowgums check in is 4pm. All rooms, luggage and kitchen storage must be vacated by 10am. Early and late checkouts can only be pre-approved by the Lodge Manager. Thredbo Farm is not a hotel, so there is no reception and room allocations are posted on the notice board in the entrance atrium. If this is your first visit, please coordinate with your member for arrival information and read the Guest Information.

How do I become a member?

Please see our Membership section.

Can I stay if I'm not a member?

Non-members are welcome to stay at the invitation of members, but must stay with their member contact on their first visit to Thredbo Farm. Please note different accommodation rates apply to members and guests.

Is there a reception?

No. Members are given arrival and departure information when they join.

Is there storage for my snow equipment/bikes?

Yes. Our large garage has plenty of bike racks and space to work on your bike. We have ski storage, a drying room, lockers and a tuning room inside the lodge. Members may request locker space for any items they wish to leave at the lodge between visits.

Will I need chains to get to Thredbo Farm in winter?

It doesn’t often snow at Thredbo Farm enough to warrant chains to get there, but it has been known to happen a couple of times per season. Usually the serious snow starts between Thredbo Farm and Thredbo Village. By law, vehicles without AWD or 4WD are required to carry chains on the Alpine Way in the ski season from the bottom of Nuggets Hill, which is before you arrive at the lodge gate. We recommend checking weather forecasts and road reports before arrival.

Is the Lodge family friendly?

Absolutely. Please see our Members, Amenities and Activities pages for more information.

Is there disabled access?

Thredbo Farm has had recent modifications to improve accessibility with one room specifically designed for enhanced access. Please contact us with your specific needs and we’ll do our best to help.

Can I hire snow/cycling equipment?

Thredbo Farm does not hire equipment itself, but we have a great arrangement with Harro’s Snowsports at Lake Crackeback Resort, directly across the road, for the convenience of our members and guests.

What is a Whole of Lodge Booking?

Members may request exclusive use of the Lodge for special events, like family birthdays, friends reunions, wedding or more outside of peak summer and winter periods. Separate rates and booking conditions apply. Requests may be made through our online form.
