Mark Glover: Chair

Mark graduated with a BSc in Mining Geology from Leicester University in 1977 and then spent 3 years working in the Zambian mining industry. He then returned to London and worked in Foreign Exchange before moving to Australia in 1987. He continued working in the banking industry, becoming the Treasurer for Bank of America Merrill Lynch for Australasia and South East Asia managing a balance sheet in excess of $4bn. In 2010 he retired from banking to run the family sheep property full time. He resides between the farm near Yass and the family home in Canberra. Since 2011 he has been a director of the Anglican Investment and Development Fund of the diocese of Canberra and Goulburn. This fund is in excess of $100m and used to fund schools and other Anglican businesses. Mark is a keen skier having learnt to ski in Austria in the 1960s. Backcountry and skiing powder are his passion and he regularly skis in Japan, North America, Europe and Kashmir as well as Thredbo when tickets are available. Mark has been a member of the lodge for nearly 20 years and has been a Director of TFSL since 2018.

Eduard Grueninger: Treasurer

Eduard's family have loved TFSL since becoming members in 2015. During the winter season you'll find them frequent the mountains of Perisher followed by Liz cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Eduard brings to the board experience from leadership and delivery roles in NSW government, finance, medical and engineering organisations. He is looking forward to leveraging his MBA and project management qualifications in the TFSL Treasurer role.

Justin Betar: Policy Director

Justin has been visiting the lodge since the early 1990’s with his parents and loves the lodge. He became a Member in 2009, continuing the family legacy with his three children. Justin, married to Kirsty, and his children all love to ski, and love visiting the lodge, no matter the time of year. Justin has previously served on the board between 2013 to 2019, and after a year’s break, is enjoying getting involved again utalising his legal expertise. Justin runs a legal practice in Sydney, is a leading Notary Public in Australia, educator, presenter and represents the Government of Ghana in Australia as the Hon Consul.

Robert Twin: COMPANY Secretary

Skiing only became a part of my life in 1977 when, having commenced a career in Surveying in Tasmania, I moved to Launceston and near Ben Lomond, the State’s premier ski area. This led to me joining a new Ski Club which had been allocated a land lease on which we built the Toorbunna Ski Lodge. Coincidentally the timing matches the birth of TFSL. It was also through this club that I met my wife Jane and commenced a lifetime of skiing and secretarial responsibilities.

Jane and I moved to Canberra in 2002 and experienced the significantly improved snow fields of Thredbo and Perisher. Our initial search for a new ski club experience led us to Hi Noon Ski Club in Thredbo Village. With a desire to share our time across both ski areas, and to experience more of the range through ski-touring, we joined TFSL in 2018. The lodge operation mirrored our experience in Tassie and we are pleased to be a part of such a welcoming community and well equipped lodge. I joined the Board in the capacity of Company Secretary in 2020 and retain this responsibility as I now join the Board as a Director in 2022.
